what is social and economic equity?
..
Equity in your question refers to fairness. Social and economic equity is the state where all people have equal access to social benefits/costs and all have equal access to improve or increase their wealth. Many countries, probably all countries, have restrictions imposed to keep some groups down unequally.
What is social equity?
what laws/policies promote social equity? who suffers from it? is it improving or not?
basic fairness to all. it is suffering and declining
what is social justice and social equity?
please put this in concise way that i can understand.
nb:wikipedia isn't much help
Social refers to people, society, etc.
Equity is similar to equality; however, equity usually means that everyone gets what's right for them, while equality implies that everyone gets the same thing.
Social Justice and social equity are closely linked; depending on who you talk to, they might be considered the same thing. Social Justice is doing the right thing for everyone, not just the majority groups.
Who is the "guarantor" of social, political and economic equity in a nation?
Hi, its me again and I would appreciate some "non-partisan" input to this question.
First, define what you believe to be equity, in the context of society, politics and economics.
As part of your sumation, it would be interesting to note your feelings as to what philosophic system of governance (Federalism, socialism, democracy, etc) you feel most closely approaches the goal of achieving social, political and economic equity in a nation?
Take your time to give this some thought and use enough space to fully support your ideas. Please try to address each one, social, political and economic in your responses.
Again, I am not a student and this is not a term paper…just a concerned and interested citizen.
Some good responses are coming in. Don't assume an agenda in the question though. "Equity" was a common thread of what many felt, on another question, to be very important in the areas of society, politics and economics. I am trying to narrow down what people think this "equity" is that people think is so important. And, if it is a valid concept in the area of social, political and economic fields, where does this "equity" come from and how is it to be "guaranteed" if society, politics and economics are to be benefited.
HAHAHA! It sure reads like an assignment for a Term Paper !
I am a very Partisan individual, but I'll give a short answer.
The Constitution, and the Supreme Court is the Guarantor of equity in our Nation, I don't know about others.
Equity would mean that everyone has equal opportunity to succeed. The playing field is opened to everyone to play, no one has a special treatment, but is allowed to try, and fail until they succeed.
I am a Fiscally, and Morally Conservative Republican,(You know a Far Right Christian Fanatic.), so I believe in a Government that gives as little Power to the Federal Government as Possible, and as much Power to the States, and the People as Possible.
What do the terms 'social justice' and 'equity' mean?
Is access to fresh water 'equal and just' around the world?
Thanks.
"Social justice" to me means that every one within that particular society is treated with fairness. To apply it over a wider range is virtually impossible as living conditions are so diverse, some by choice, some by ignorance, some by injustice, some by tradition, etc. Each society has to decide what is socially just for its own members. China and Australia would have differences I imagine. Some African countries and America would also be incompatible. Yet, you can have social justice in each country if you have enough social reformers.
Equality can mean that every one gets the same goods, housing, treatment, opportunities, schooling etc. However, it is impossible to realise. If you look at housing, some people look after and improve their homes, others let them rot. To equal things up, at the end of the year, do you rebuild the rotted house with materials taken from the well kept house so that they both become equal again?
Equal opportunities? Does that mean anyone who wants to become a doctor can do so? Equal pay? Do you pay the idler on the beach the same as the policeman on the beat or the teacher before the class? How do you work out equality when some people, through no fault of their own, can hardly string two words together sensibly, and another can effortlessly churn out glorious poetry? There is no way that they seem to have started out equally.
However, the great leveller is that they are all equally human and as such, deserve the same respect and consideration. Indeed, it is my contention that the less able is the one who should get the most respect to make up for the deficiencies that he so easily recognises within himself when compared with others.
Sorry. I will step down from the pulpit now. I wish I practised as well as I preached. I'll go back to my knitting now that I've got that off my chest. You should not have asked such an intriguing question.
What are the consequences for social justice and equity in relation to foreign aid?

Documentary (Social Networking Online 1)
This was a huge project for my Documentary Media class. It wasn’t requred, but I wanted to show myself that I had filmmaking skillz. I chose to focus on the current trend of online social networking. I included many people, some that I never met before, but it all turned out to be great. A few glitches here and there, but I got an A. A hearty thank you to those who participated. I also wrote a blog: The documentary is finally up, and many apologies for leaving you hanging on. (The people that were in it were those that wanted to see themselves) Doing this project was fun, and a lot of hard work. Probably the toughest part was renting the cameras twice a week and having John (Mass Comm engineer) putting up with me coming in and out of his office. So what’s the documentary about? I wanted to focus on the current trend of online social networking. This was for a class (Documentary Media), and I ended up getting an A in it, partly because of this project. After Dr. Murphy okayed my topic, I went ahead and made a list of what I was going to cover in this film. This was only going to be 13 minutes, which was the limit. I knew it would be tough to cram it all into one, but I think that I did it. Choosing the people to interview was easy. I immediately drew up some names, such as my friend Liz from the radio station (she likes Myspace for the bands), my friend/co-worker Marc (who likes to meet people through groups), and one of my past professors Dr. Tom Foster, who was one of the very few faculty members that used Facebook. Just about everyone agreed to be interviewed, except for Mike Turk, for the obvious reasons. Everyone that I interviewed on-camera provided great nuggets of information, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to include all the great quotes. I realized that this was always a director and producer’s common tough situation, which is choosing the right stuff. I remember doing an interview with Dr. Foster, and it lasted 20 minutes, in which he provided some great details. However, again, I wasn’t able to include everything. Maybe I should make a deleted scenes version? Getting some of the b-roll was another fun part, as I logged in many miles of footage and in my car. I went from Greenville College to Alton to the loop to Larry Flynt’s place (which comes with a funny story, by the way). Sneaking the cameras into the mall was not too bad of a challenge, either. I would like to say many thanks to those who participated in this project. Your part means a lot, and there are those who I met while doing this. To my new acquaintances, like Bogart said at the end of Casablanca, “May this be the great start to a new friendship” Like what David Wark Griffith once said, “History by lightning”….. p.s.: Since I completed this project in April, it’s already showing a sign of outdatedness. During the near-three month period, Facebook added the feature where one can add as many ‘Applications’ as possible. In the film, I said that Facebook is ‘just plain text’ while comparing it to Myspace, which lets people use html and be creative. Thanks to those who took part in this (first part): George Beckett, Dr. Tom Foster of SIUE, Janelle Dobson, Chris Schrage

How to own and manage a Social Networking website?
I was wondering if there are any good books on owning and managing a social networking website. I have found it difficult to prepare for the challenges of managing a website. We recently hired a consulting/software development company that has taken care of everything from design and development to analyzing, testing, and hosting. However, I would like to know everything that they know! Is there anything I can study to learn the ins and outs of owning and operating a social networking website?
http://philip.greenspun.com/panda/community this is a decent guide to start with. (decent: not spectacular)
